“What is happening in Yemen is a genocide and opposing aggressor states is one of the responsibilities of the United Nations,” said the Chairman of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Wednesday.
He made the remarks while meeting with Mark Lowcock, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The United Nations is home to all countries of the world and hence is expected to show a behavior fit to its international status,” said the Iranian legislator.
The UN official, also in this meeting, offered condolences over deadly earthquake in west of Iran and extended sympathies to the families of the bereaved families.
He voiced readiness to provide UN relief supply to the quake hit regions. In addition, Mark Lowcock said that cooperation between countries increases the capacities of countries.
