South Pars gas recovery hits 109bn cbm in 9 months

TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (MNA) – SPGC managing director said 109.496 billion cubic meters of gas were recovered from South Pars joint field over the past nine months.

According to Masoud Hassani, Managing Director of South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC), the volume of processed gas in South Pars refineries indicated a 22.7 per cent upsurge as compared with the corresponding period a year ago.

He went on to maintain that 63 per cent of the country’s gas demand was supplied by South Pars gas reservoir.

The official further stressed that more than 87.610 billion cubic meters of gas were sweetened in the nine-month period since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20, 2016).

“Additionally, over 141 million barrels of gas condensate were manufactured in South Pars refinery showing a 16% rise compared with the previous year.

While emphasizing the considerable role played by SPGC in manufacturing by-products, Hassani added that more than 356 thousand tons of sulfure were produced in the mentioned timespan.
