Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday received and addressed foreign envoys, Islamic Unity Conference participants, government officials, and other dignitaries on Saturday on the occasion of birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (as) and Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (as).
“Today, two conflicting wills fight over hegemony in the Middle East; one espouses unity and solidarity of Muslim nations, while the other seeks to divide them all; in the face of this second will, Muslims should embrace unity and rely on Prophet’s teachings to tackle the sufferings of the Muslim countries across the globe,” he told the meeting. “With imperialism and colonialism still at work, current issues of the Islamic world are to be addressed through proper means: cooperation, unity, abandoning differences in petty issues, and to emphasize on common beliefs and values; only in this way, would the world of Islam abort plots intended to divide the Ummah.”
Ayatollah Khamenei believed an important plot was to put Palestinian question into abeyance by the Zionist regime and the US; “wanton killing of Muslims in Myanmar, in Nigeria in west Africa, and no less important sectarian strife in the Middle East are the outcomes of the same mentality which seeks to divide Islam; the British Shi’ism and American brand of Sunnism are the blades of the same scissors, which should be blunted by the Muslim nations themselves,” he suggested.
“Britain had since long been working on dividing and ruling principle in Islamic lands; within two past centuries, their policies had only wreaked havoc on Muslim countries; today, they shamelessly would call Iran as a threat to the region, while it is far too clear that Britain had been source of suffering and plight for nations of the region, and they had corrupted the whole region,” Leader emphasized.
“The enemies, in their most flexible posture, are calm in appearance, but a beast of absolute rage and hatred lurks behind their calm; all nations should be prepared for this beast.”
Leader posed the critical question that why some ‘Islamic’ countries would clandestinely follow the enemies’ policies and would welcome them into the region; “this is a flagrant violation and a hypocrisy which would underestimate the threats foreign powers would pose to the security of the region,” Leader concluded.
