Iran follows Imam Khomeini’s path

TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani urged all Iranians to follow the path of Founder of Islamic Revolution saying his right path would not be forgotten.

“Today, once more, we renew our allegiance to Imam Khomeini not to forget his right path,” President Rouhani made the remarks while paying a visit to late Imam Khomeini’s holy shrine on the eve of 37th anniversary of 1979 Islamic Revolution victory.

The president, who had his cabinet accompanying him, commended the outstanding characteristics of Imam Khomeini, highlighting his courageous attitude in resisting the arrogant powers and his resistance during the Imposed War with Iraq.

“Today also Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei follows the same path with bravery and wisdom,” said Rohani underlining the influence of directives of the Leader on Iran’s current status.

The president asserted “Imam Khomeini proved the power of religion and faith when the world was considering them impractical, showing all how religion can lead a great movement and topple down arrogance.”

Noting Independence, Freedom and Islamic Republic as basic principles of the Islamic Revolution, he reiterated “freedom in Imam Khomeini’s idea was the freedom of expression and elections in direction of serving country's improvement and progress; independence is not isolation, but rejecting the dominance of foreign powers.”

“Imam Khomeini clearly defined that Islamic Republic would survive if supported by nation and governed by their votes,” Rouhani emphasized, calling the public participation in elections as instrumental and urging the nation and governmental organizations to prepare the ground for holding inclusive and competitive elections.

“February 11, the 37th anniversary of Islamic Revolution victory, is the liberation day of Iranian nation and end of darkness; we will show the world we have always followed and will follow the path of Imam Khomeini,” Rouhani said.
