According to ILO Director General, Guy Ryder, increasing the international help to face "the economic and social challenges posed by the refugee crisis" is a prime responsibility for the whole world.
In remarks to journalists, Ryder said the employment for the refugees and the acceptance in communities must be considered "a central problem in the international efforts," and demands "a development-oriented approach."
In his opinion, it is necessary to reconciliate the obligation to offer held, jobs and support to development for the refugees with the need to administer efficiently the labor markets of the countries admitting them in order to find sustainable solutions.
"The Syrian refugees feel that their lives are in the air. In some way their lives are paralyzed by the circumstances they are going through, and they want --and I think it is human, understandable-- to find a place in the labor market," said the ILO head.
During his first visit to Jordan, Ryder examined the effects of the refugee crisis on the labor market, and he met with high ranking government officials, representatives of the workers and the employers.
The fourth conference of donors will be held in London next week to raise funds for humanitarian efforts in Syria and increase the support to neighbor territories.
