‘Iran to take action if US Congress bill contradicts JCPOA’

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator said Iran will take action if the recent US Congress bill on visa requirements for the citizens of four countries including Iran contradicts the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Seyed Abbas Araghchi talked to the reporters on the sidelines of the Meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) here on Sunday saying that the recent bill has different legal aspects. Iran is studying the bill and will take action if it is finalized, he stated.

Iran is negotiating with the 5+1 and the European Union foreign policy chief on the issue, added he.

The bill, which passed by 407 to 19 last week, is the second security legislation approved in the lower chamber in response to the Paris attacks on November 13.

The measure would require visitors from the 38 “visa waiver” countries to obtain a visa to travel to the US if they have been to Syria, Iraq, Iran or Sudan in the past five years.

It would also require countries participating in the program, which include much of Western Europe, to share information with Washington about terror suspects, Presstv says.

Read the article on this topic posted on Al-Monitor. This legislation would severely undermine JCPOA. It is essentially US reneging on her commitments under JCPOA. Mr. Araghchi needs to be better informed! The essential fact to know is that any businessman or tourist from Europe will think twice about visiting Iran because they will face a huge hassle when they visit the US - so they won't visit Iran; ergo won't invest in Iran ...

They should have put Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Yemen, on the list. Most of the Terrorist so far have been from Saudi Arabia , (Ben Landen, Shoe bomber, LA killers). Saudi's have built all the extremist mosques all over the world, to create more Hajj Business for their country. The more Muslims, they more money they make for thousands of years to come.. Stop Saudi Arabia, not Iranians. Why All Iranians, 20% of Iranians are Christians, Jews and other minorities, which have run away from Islam.
