Rally to Force France to Retreat From Scarf Ban

TEHRAN, Jan.17 (Mehr News Agency)-- Chairman of the Muslims’ group in France, Mohammad Naser Al-Atrash said that the rallies carried out on Saturday were meant to force the French government to retreat from the law to ban headscarves in France.

The group is responsible for the recent demonstrations in Paris and other cities in France.

Speaking to Al Shargh Al Awsat, Al-Atrash warned about further movements in protest and public measures to prevent the implementation of the law to ban Hijab.

“This law has permitted overt animosity towards Islam,” he said.

Al-Atrash stressed that the group has proposed a greater demonstration on February 7 as well as weekly protests. He added that the group also inclines to prevent Muslim students to attend school on Saturdays in order to dissuade France from taking a decision in this regard.

“The important issue is that people are annoyed and disappointed with the unjust law to ban Hijab in France,” he said.
