Iranian scholar to review Hafez influence on Goethe

TEHRAN, July 28 (MNA) -- Iranian scholar Mahmud Falaki is writing a book on the effects of Hafez on Goethe.

He reviews the relationship between Hafez and Goethe and he focuses on Goethe’s “West-Eastern Divan” and how much he influenced by Hafez and Persian poetry in this work.

 

His book “Alienation in Kafka’s Works and His Impact on the Modern Persian Literature” will be published by Salis publications.

 

Born in 1951, Falaki obtained degree in German Literature from the University of Hamburg. He has published about 20 books in different fields including novel, poem and literary criticism in Persian and Germany. Some of his poems are translated in English and Swedish.

 

Story collections “The Long Street”, “Homesick Tales”, the novel “Shadows”, poem collections “The dark words”, “Wandering in Dreams” and “The Last poem Collection”, books on literary criticism including “ Music in Iranian Blank Verse”, “ A Glance at Shamlu poetry” are amongst his published works.

 

The two-volume “Wir Sprechen Persisch” (We Speak Persian) by Mahmud Falaki and Karin Afshar has recently been published in Germany.
