Iranian, Greek FMs discuss mutual ties, US-Israeli aggression

TEHRAN, Mar. 29 (MNA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece George Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi late on Saturday to discuss the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

Describing the crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime during the 30-day military aggression against the country, Araghchi called on all countries to condemn illegal US-Israeli attacks against Iran which is a gross violation of the UN Charter and the international law.

The indifference of the international community to the lawlessness and terrorist acts of the US and the Zionist regime will lead to the decline of the international system, and its consequences will affect all countries in the world, Iran’s top diplomat underlined.

He then turned to the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, and Iran, based on the established principles of the international law, has adopted a series of measures to prevent the aggressors and their partners from misusing this waterway to advance their illegal and aggressive goals against Iran.

The US and Israeli military attacks against Iran are a gross violation of Article 4 of the United Nations Charter and a clear example of military aggression against a UN member state, Araghchi said, noting that all countries are obliged, in accordance with their international legal obligations, to condemn this aggression and to refrain from any cooperation or collaboration with the aggressors.

The foreign minister of Greece, for his part, expressed his deep concern over the dire consequences of war in the region, especially its security and economic dimensions.

Gerapetritis expressed hope that peace and stability would return to the region as soon as possible.
