Iran reacts to Hamas response to Gaza ceasefire plan

TEHRAN, May 07 (MNA) – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani has reacted to Hamas' positive response to the Gaza ceasefire plan.

The senior Iranian diplomat welcomed the response of the Hamas movement to the political plan presented to stop the Zionist regime's genocidal war machine in the Gaza Strip, describing the Resistance's political intelligence as another manifestation of its power.

The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the plan that has been presented for the realization of the rights of the Palestinian people, including the immediate and permanent cessation of the attacks and crimes of the Zionist regime, the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Israeli occupying forces from the Strip as well as the reconstruction of war ruins, he said.

On Monday night,  Hamas approved a proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza war put forward by mediators Qatar and Egypt, although the Israeli regime has yet to comment on the proposal.

Israel waged a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Israeli forces have killed at least 34,735 Palestinians in its seven-month war on Gaza.

Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
