Iranian foreign minister meets counterparts in New York

TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with a number of his foreign counterparts in New York.

In several posts on the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, Amir-Abdollahian cited that he has held meetings with his counterparts from Russia, Hungary, and Vietnam.

"In New York, we met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed the latest international issues, including developments in the Caucasus and the latest state of bilateral relations," Amir-Abdollahian wrote.

The long-term comprehensive cooperation document between Iran and Russia to strengthen and expand cooperation is in the final step, he added.

In another tweet, the top Iranian diplomat cited that he and his Vietnamese counterpart Bùi Thanh Sơn stressed supporting the private sectors of the two countries and chambers of commerce to strengthen bilateral trade relations.

Vietnam has an important position in Southeast Asia and ASEAN, he added.

In a meeting with Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó, Amir-Abdollahian said that they've agreed on holding a joint commission between the two countries.

During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat expressed Iran's opposition to any war.

The top Iranian diplomat also met and held talks with his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira on the sidelines of the UNGA session in New York.

Thanking Brazil for supporting Iran's membership in BRICS, Amir-Abdollahian said that Tehran is ready to expand relations with Brasília.

Amir-Abdollahian also invited his Brazilian counterpart to visit Iran and it was decided that the visit would be planned in a proper time.

The foreign minister of Brazil, for his part,  considered the relations with Iran as important for his country and said that Brazil is ready to increase the relations with Iran both in the public and private sectors.

In this meeting, the parties emphasized the need to accelerate the holding of the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries and to support the cooperation of their private sectors.

In a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea Park Jin, the top Iranian diplomat said that Tehran is ready to strengthen cooperation with Seoul in different fields including science, technology, as well as cultural and consular issues.

Referring to the importance of the security of the Persian Gulf and Iran's energy security, he said that Iran's transit capacities can be used by Korea.

Amir-Abdollahian also invited his South Korean counterpart to visit Tehran.

Jin, for his part, expressed hope that the release of Iran's assets would lead to the strengthening of relations between Iran and Korea.

He also stressed that Seoul is ready to strengthen cooperation with Tehran in different fields and invited Amir-Abdollahian to pay a visit to his country.

On Friday evening, the top Iranian diplomat also met and held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Niger.

During the meeting, the two sides conferred on the latest situation in Niger's political developments, as well as the bilateral relations between Tehran and Niamey.

Amir-Adollahian also met and held talks with his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström during his visit to New York.
