Iranian illustrators win Chitrakala Award 2005

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) -- Iranian illustrators won the Katha Chitrakala Award 2005 during a competition held in early summer in India, the Persian service of the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported on Tuesday.

The Katha Chitrakala Award has been established in India to honor and appreciate illustrators and writers who create illustrated books for children. This international search for excellence is open to all illustrator-writer teams, emerging or established, in India and outside the country.

 

Firuzeh Golmohammadi and Rashin Kheiriyeh from Iran shared the Grand Prize of the event.

 

According to ISNA, Anahita Teimurian and Hoda Haddadi along with an Indian illustrator shared the Runner-up Prize and Hamidreza Biedaqi and Hassan Amekan and an Indian participant won Notable Mentions (Medal and possible publication by Katha).

 

The first prize winners will leave for India in January 2006 in order to receive their awards.

 

Golmohammadi received the award for the illustration of the book “The Secret of That Tree”, which was published in Iran by Ofoq Publications.
