Car imports vol. in current year at over 7,000: IRICA

TEHRAN, Jul. 08 (MNA) – More than 7,000 various models of passenger cars were imported into the country in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21).

Latest statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) showed that 7,043 different types of passenger cars, valued at $198,950,000, were imported into the country in the same period, showing a considerable 67.56 and 66.75 percent decline in terms of quantity and value respectively as compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

IRICA put the number of passenger cars imported into the country in the first quarter of the last year (March 20-June 21) at 21,714.

Given the above issue, 21,714 passenger cars, valued at $598,354, were imported into the country in the first three months of the past year (from March 20 to June 20, 2017).

Totally, 70,075 passenger cars in different models were imported into the country last year (ended March 20, 2018).

According to the latest report notified by the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) to IRICA, order registration process for importing car has been strictly prohibited since two weeks ago.

To fulfill customs formalities for various types of cars, IRICA receives approval letter for the registration of order from TPOI electronically at two stages.
