Ardebil exports grow over 20%, says customs chief

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) -– Exports from the northwestern province of Ardebil have had more than 20 percent growth since mid-March, reported provincial Customs head Wednesday.

Javad Sarabi, in his talks with Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), added provincial Customs offices have exported over 21.3 million kilograms of goods worth more than 24 million dollars in the first half of new Iranian calendar year (started March 21), showing 23 and 26 percent increases in terms of weight and value respectively when compared to figures in the same period in the preceding year.

 

He termed desirable the exports of potato – more than 1,414 tons valued at 404,797 dollars – to markets other than Azerbaijan and Georgia.

 

The ranking Customs official vowed Ardebil Cement Plant will export its product to Arab states and Republic of Azerbaijan in the near future.

 

He added the province would also export carpet via Ardebil Customs.

 

According to him, provincial Customs offices have earned some seven billion rials during the first six months, indicating a nine percent increase from the previous year.
