TEHRAN, Nov. 04 (MNA) – A female legionnaire cyclist of Iran offered awe-inspiring athletic performances at Jebel Jais Cycling Challenge in the UAE and managed to win the gold medal.

Participants at the scenic race, held on November 03, cycled through the Jebel Jais Mountains situated in Ras Al Khaimah city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It was a 46km challenging race with several inclines and declines along the course at the end of which Iran’s Mandana Dehghan came first and stood on top of the podium. Dehghan has recently inked a contract with the Emirate’s national team as a legionnaire.

Earlier this year, the Iranian cyclist had landed first at an international cycling tour in Thailand.

The 2017 Jebel Jais Cycling Challenge was divided up in categories of Open Male, Open Female and Social Emirati and started in separate waves. Roads had control by police and one support car per start wave followed behind each category.

Prize money was offered to the top 3 in each category while all participants received medals, refreshments as well as finisher t-shirts.
