'US media claims out of sheer desperation'

TEHRAN, Jun. 21 (MNA) – AEOI spokesman, in response to Wall Street Journal claims that Iran pursues military nuclear activities, said these moves are out of desperation not being worth addressing.

In a telephone conversation with Iran’s IRIB, Spokesperson of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi reacted to recent claims made by Wall Street Journal that the International Atomic Energy Agency discovered uranium particles at Parchin in 2015 asserting “these efforts are made out of distress and do not deserve being dealt with.”

“These void measures are exploited for political purposes as the so-called possible military dimensions (PMD) of Iran's civil nuclear program was also politically motivated,” he added.

Kamalvandi referred to the visits made by the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano to Parchin and the samplings made from critical areas reiterating that “PMD was ‘political’ and resolved through technical, legal and political actions during the nuclear talks.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that “traces of man-made uranium were found at the Parchin facility, southeast of Tehran, by investigators from the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, as part of an investigation tied to the landmark nuclear deal reached last July between Iran and global powers.”
