For his part, the Interior Ministry confirmed 'the explosion aboard a presidential security bus' that moved by one of the capital's main avenues.
"This is an attack" said a spokesperson from the entity, referring to the causes of the event.
By now, there are no reports on how many of the wounded people were in the vehicle, or if bystanders near the site of the blast were also injured.
It is also unknown how many agents were on the bus.
Since the deposition in 2011 by President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali after popular protests, the country experienced an increase in attacks by extremists.
During 2015, a total of 60 people lost their lives because of two attacks, one of them held in March in the capital's Bardo Museum, the other in the resort of Port El Kantaoui, in June.
