The 38th session of G-15 Foreign Ministers summit headed by Sri Lanka was held today on the sidelines of UN General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Deputy for Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi headed the Iranian delegation present at the meeting.
Pointing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Araghchi announced Iran's readiness to cooperate with G-15 members with the aim of reaching the 7 goals of the agenda based on the group’s priorities.
Enumerating the potentials of G-15 particularly in economic and political areas, Iran’s deputy foreign minister stressed the need for South-South cooperation.
Araghci, emphasizing on the group’s cooperation in energy, agriculture, biotechnology, and tourism, supported the membership of new countries from other regions including Asia and Latin America.
Group of 15 was formed in September 1989 and now consists of Inida, Malaysia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Venezuela and Zimbabwe with a common goal of enhanced growth and prosperity.
