Mehdi Yousefi, underlining the critical role of South Pars in Iran’s energy and economy arenas, asserted that the field is the world’s largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, and holds 8% of all in-situ natural gas.
“The field also embraces 55% of Iran’s total proven gas reserves,” he added.
Yousefi confirmed that Iran’s current daily extraction of the field equals 450 mcm, however by completion of all phases the total amount would hit 800 mcm per day.
“Iran’s Oil Ministry has an inclusive program for completing all PSEEZ phases by 2017,” stated Yousefi.
He also stressed the investment opportunities of the field, adding “South Pars benefits from high capacity of investment and the government has defined a proper measure of facilities for investors of the field.”
