On the International Day of Midwife, members of Iran's Society of Midwives met with the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the meeting the Leader listened to some members of the society's words and mentioned some points regarding the role of midwives in the society and future population of the country published by khamenei.ir which read as follow:
The Society of midwives plays a key role in safeguarding mothers and babies’ health, thus all men and women are indebted to midwives.
I appreciate caring efforts of Iranian midwives who play a key role in mothers and babies' health with patience, knowledge and conscientiousness.
Via media, specialists should elaborate on disadvantages of non-natural and advantages of natural childbirth for mothers and babies' health.
Population growth is highly important for Iran while natural childbirth and midwives' services have a key role in this process.
Large number of young people is one of Iran’s privileges. If wrong population control policies continue, we will face great problem of aging population.
Iran without young population means a country without creativity, progress, liveliness and enthusiasm. Vital plans for population growth should be seriously pursued.
I stress on solving problems of Iran's Society of Midwives. Government should try to make up 4 deficiencies and shortcomings in this sector.
