Iran eases past Oman in AFC U-16 Championship

(MNA), Oct. 24 -- Iran overpowered Oman in its opening match of the AFC U-16 Championship on Sunday.

Ali Fathian in the 20th and 59th minutes, Mehdi Mehdipour in the 45th minute, Sardar Azmoon in the 48th minute and Siavash Haghnazari in the 72nd minute scored for Iran, and Hasan Al-Saadi scored Oman’s sole goal with seven minutes remaining to the game.

“We are very happy to be here, but we must take things one game at a time and consider each opponent separately,” said Iran coach Akbar Mohammadi at the beginning of the competition.

“We had about 25 matches last year and we lost just one game against Korea Republic in Seoul; so, I 100% believe we can win the championship,” he added.
