High-ranking Armenian delegation will visit Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (MNA) -– A high-ranking Armenian delegation led by Artashes Toumanian, the head of Armenia’s Presidential Office will visit Iran on Monday.

In line with the development of joint cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan and also the upcoming 6th Meeting of Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Cooperation to be held in Tehran, a number of senior officials including the energy minister, presidential chief of staff and deputy ministers from the South-West Asian republic will be visiting the Islamic Republic, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported here, on Saturday.

Given the increase in the Russian natural gas prices and the current disruption in its delivery to Armenia, it is expected that the Armenian authorities would try to encourage Iran to expedite the construction of the proposed Iran-Armenia natural gas pipeline planned to transfer Iran’s gas to its north-western neighbor, the report said.

Reviewing the economic and political relations as well as trade cooperation between the two countries and in particular, possible avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation in various energy fields have been cited as the main topics to be discussed during the meetings.

Iran-Armenia joint economic cooperation meetings are regularly held on a reciprocal basis in Tehran and Yerevan every year, a coordinating team from the neighboring country has already entered Iran on Thursday.
