The jurors of Afghanistan section of the Jalal Al-e Ahmad Literary Award announced the finalists for novel and short story categories of the prize, according to the public relations of Iran Poem and Literature Foundation.
According to the same source, Shahriar Abbasi (author), Majid Gheysari (author), and Ebrahim Zahedi Motlagh (author and journalist) are the jurors of the section who have picked up 5 novels and 4 collections of short stories among the Afghan works of the last 8 years submitted to the Foundation.
This is the 9th edition of the yearly award and during the previous editions of the prize there was no Afghanistan section hence the latest round of the competition is going to award the best Afghan works of the last 8 years.
Novels by Mohammad A’zam Rahnavard Zaryab, Asef Soltanzadeh, Ahmad Zia Siamak Heravi, Khosrow Mani, and Mohammad Hossein Mohammadi are the finalists of this category, the Best Afghan Novel, of the award.
The jurors have also picked 4 short story collections by Vasimeh Badgheysi, Habib Sadeghi, Hossein Fakhri, and Seyed Ali Mousavi as finalists of the Best Afghan Short Story category.
The final ceremony of the ninth edition of the Jalal Al-e Ahmad Literary Award is to be held at Vahdat Hall of Tehran in the evening of Saturday December 04, on the birthday of the prominent Persian writer Jalal Al-e Ahmad, with awards in three categories of novel, short story, and non-fiction. The Afghanistan section of the event will also offer prizes to the best novel and short story by an Afghan author in Farsi published anywhere around the world in the last 8 years.
