Iraqi troops kill ISIL commander in Fallujah

BAGHDAD, May 29 (MNA) – Iraqi government forces intensified their offensive to liberate Fallujah, where 70 terrorists have been killed in the last hours, including ISIL Commander in the city Maher Al Bilawi.

The Iraqi Army and the US-led international coalition against ISIL have confirmed to state television the killing of Al Bilawi during air strikes against his camp and weapon sites in Fallujah.

The terrorist was considered an outstanding ISIL commander in the province, and was killed along with other 69 extremists as a result of the air and ground operations over the last four days, a US official said.

Iraqi TV channels reported that the incursions of the foreign aviation over Fallujah have the purpose of supporting army units and federal security forces that, along with Shia militia and Sunni tribes try to expel the terrorists.

UN estimated figures suggest that about 50,000 civilians are trapped in the city, some of them about to starve to death due to the impossibility of sending humanitarian aid.
