Animations competing in FIFF

Animations competing in FIFF

TEHRAN, Jan. 14 (MNA) – With Fajr International Film Festival approaching, details of arbitration of the Animation section has leaked into the media.

This year’s edition of FIFF had attracted enough candidates in Animation section, as Mohammad Heidari, the festival director would believe, to establish a special section for animated films, a decision which won the support and welcome of Animated Film Association of Iran (ASIFA) and the secretary of Animation Festival.

Seven animated films compete for the title, of which, supposedly, 2 most outstanding animations will have a chance to bring home the bacon. It is probable that a third animation would also be considered for final arbitration. As ASIFA is responsible for final arbitration of this edition of the festival, the secretary will sit in a session with the arbitration board to decide on the matter, so goes the media account.

What is clear, however, that an animation definitely will win the Simorgh of the 34th FIFF for Animation section, provided that one of the animated works are selected by the board as having the necessary merits to be chosen. It is still to be decided whether script, sound mixing, music, etc., will be given a weight in final decision, and whether animated films would also be given a chance to compete for ‘Sodaye-Simorgh’ (‘Lust for Simorgh’).

Seven animated films with a chance of being shortlisted are ‘Holy List,’ (formerly ‘Coming Back’), ‘Scourge,’ ‘Verses of Mutability,' ‘Along with the Rain,’ ‘Survivor,’ ‘Heart of the Sun,’ and ‘Persian Gulf Battle 2.’
