A series of best Iranian film productions participated in the 5th edition of Iranian Film Festival Australia (IFFA) and were screened in five capital cities across Australia; Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne.
‘Risk of Acid Rain’ directed by Behtash Sanaeiha won the festival’s Netpac Award in this year’s edition.
Sanaeiha’s production is a minimal poetic story that depicts the life of Manouchehr, a 60 year old retiree from the Iranian Tobacco Company, who still insists on going to work while he grapples with the loneliness of retirement. When his mother passes away, Manouchehr; who is unmarried with no other family sets off on a journey to try to find his one and only old friend in Tehran.
Last year, the festival’s Netpac Award Winner was 'Fish & Cat' directed by Shahram Mokri.
The Iranian Film Festival Australia (IFFA) is the only nation-wide Australian festival dedicated to the presentation of contemporary Iranian cinema.
