Museum on Prof. Samii opens in Tehran

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) -- A museum named after Germany-based Iranian neurosurgeon and medical scientist Professor Majid Samii has recently opened at Tehran’s Sadabad Cultural Historical Complex.

The museum displays documents introducing the scientific achievements of Professor Samii as well as the international medals he has received for his scientific achievements, complex director Eshrat Shayeq told the Persian service of IRNA on Sunday.

The achievements of other Iranian contemporary scientists across the world will also be exhibited in the museum, she said.

“There is a dearth of special museums that are needed to display the successes manifesting Iranian scientific status in the world and now Professor Samii’s museum has eased the shortage,” she noted.

Shayeq said that the complex has set up a number of research and educational committees in order to familiarize the world with the accomplishments of Professor Samii.

Born in Rasht in 1937, Samii got his doctoral degree in neurosurgery at the age of 33.

Samii chairs the International Neuroscience Institute in Germany and is the director of the Municipal Clinic for Neurosurgery in Hanover.
