NEF ceremony honors late Father of Modern Math

TEHRAN, Feb. 29 (MNA) – Tehran’s branch of National Elites Foundation has honored in a ceremony the Father of Iran’s modern mathematics.

Gholamali Ordoukhani, the Head of NEF of Tehran branch said that Gholamhossein Mosaheb had been accurately called the ‘Father of modern mathematics’ of Iran since he had had great achievements in mathematics for the country during 20th century; “his disciples now constitute an elite group of mathematicians; Mr. Mosaheb’s books, either written or translated from foreign languages, greatly improved the academic impression of the mathematics in the country,” he lavished praise upon the deceased scientist.

“National Elites Foundation has established an office for building role models and to honor the past figures of prominence. The office has a mission to find and honor country’s nationally forgotten figures in all scientific fields. The program is provided for the youth proper role models and examples of excellence in academic conduct,” Ordoukhani emphasized.

Mr. Gholamhossein Mosaheb was born in 1910 in Tehran. Among his famous pamphlets in mathematics are ‘Omar Khayyam’s Algebra,’ ‘Mathematical Analysis,’ ‘Preliminary Number Theory,’ and ‘Persian Encyclopedia.’  He died October 10 1980 in Tehran.
