Iran’s best publishers awarded at Tehran Intl. Book Fair

TEHRAN, May 6 (MNA) -- Kanun Publications, which is the publishing section of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), and Madreseh Publications were selected as Iran’s best state-run publishing houses in the field of children’s books for the year 2004.

According to the Public Relations Office of IIDCYA, the two publishing houses were awarded at the opening ceremony of the 18th Tehran International Book Fair, which opened on Wednesday.

 

The jury members included representatives of publishing houses based in Tehran and several other Iranian cities, as well as writers, illustrators, and literary experts.

 

Qadyani, Peydayesh, and Asatir publishers were named the top private sector publishers of books for adults, and Shabaviz publishing house was also honored in this section.

 

SAMT and Ansarian were named the top public sector publishers of books for adults.

 

Kanun Publications began its activities in 1970 with the book “Uninvited Guest” and has published over 1300 books in the past 35 years. It has been named the best publisher of children’s books several times over the years.

 

The book fair, which runs until May 14, is currently underway at the Tehran International Fairgrounds.
