Iran’s wrestling tournament impresses UWW representative

TEHRAN, Feb. 07 (MNA) – United World Wrestling (UWW) board member has expressed total satisfaction with Iran’s General Wrestling Tournament Championship as the biggest wrestling Tournament in the world.

Maria Yakshi maintained she was deeply impressed by watching world’s biggest wrestling tournament in Iran.

She noted that the last biggest championship she had watched was on 8 wrestling mats on the ground, but Iran’s general wrestling tournament was held on 15 mats, which was indeed ‘very remarkable.’

“Of course orchestrating tournaments with such magnitude is not that much difficult for a country highly notable for its wrestling championship but still managing more than 3,000 wrestlers and coaches for multiple competitions is quite an impressive feat,” she said.

She assured that she would submit the best report to UWW senior officials on her observations of Iran’s General Wrestling Tournament; “this is the least I could do as a tournament supervisor for wrestling enthusiasts in Iran,” she said.

United World Wrestling (UWW) is the international governing body responsible for supervising Olympic wrestling. Since 2013, UWW has come to set rules and regulations and hold international competitions in various wrestling styles including Greco-Roman wrestling, Freestyle wrestling, and Beach wrestling.
