TEHRAN, Mar. 30 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Wednesday held a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and discussed a number of bilateral issues as well as the Vienna talks.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries which is taking place in Tunxi, in China on March 30-31.

Pointing out the existing capacities in the field of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic sector, Amir-Abdollahian stressed the need to follow and implement the agreements between Iran and Qatar.

Turning to the Vienna negotiations on reviving JCPOA, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that the finalization of the agreement requires the realism on the part of the American side, adding that the United States must give up its excessive demands in order for the intensive efforts of the various parties in Vienna lead to the necessary result and all the parties return to their commitments. 

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir-Abdollahian condemned the Israeli meeting with the US and 4 Arab countries in Negev, describing it as a big betrayal to the Palestinian cause.

He described the Zionist regime as the main problem of the Islamic world and said, "unfortunately, some countries are pursuing the normalization of their relations with this regime in a treacherous act, despite its contradiction with the lofty ideals of the Muslims of the world regarding Holy Quds and Palestine."

Al Thani, for his part, emphasized the need to activate Iran-Qatar bilateral relations and appreciated the active presence of  Iran at the recent Doha Forum.

Earlier on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian held a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The Iranian top diplomat is also set to hold bilateral meetings on Wednesday and Thursday with some other participating officials, and the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
