Festival of Traditional Iranian Food and Music to Be Held in Turkey

TEHRAN, September 12 (Mehr News Agency) –- The First Festival of Traditional Iranian Food and Music is to be held on September 16 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The festival intends to present tourism attractions of Iran and provide facilities for the Turks to travel to Iran to enjoy its beautiful historical sites, said head of the festival organizing committee.

“Even before the beginning of the festival, over 7,800 tourists from Turkey have registered to travel to Iran to visit the religious cities and the tourism sites,” said Mostafa Asgari.

He added that a total of 15 provinces from Iran are to put on exhibit their food, local music and traditional costumes during the one-week event.

Several special gatherings exclusive for the heads of tour agencies, journalists and ambassadors residing in Turkey are arranged during the feast, he said.

Carnivals in two districts of Istanbul are to give Iranian food to the passersby and foreign tourists.

Turkish mass media began covering the news of the feast several days ago and over 10,000 kites bearing the symbol of the feast have been distributed among the children.

Asgari announced that such a festival is due to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well.
