Rouhani urges ‘orchestrated, serious measure’ against terrorism

TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (MNA) – Putting off his planned visit to Italy and France after terrorist attacks hit Paris Friday night, President Rouhani talked to Italian PM today.

Mr. Rouhani however talked through a phone call on Saturday to Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi from Tehran where he urged a well-orchestrated and serious attempt to address and solve terrorism in a joint platform. President Rouhani expressed hopes that his visit to Italy will be feasible in a more convenient time and conditions.

“Boosting ties between Italy and Iran would benefit both nations; Iran is a victim of terrorists with over 17,000 fallen to terrorism; we better appreciate the depth and hatful nature of terrorism; however, we believe that terrorists will ultimately fail to score a win against will of nations and countries,” he told in the phone call.

Matteo Renzi, for his part, emphasized that Italy welcomed deeper ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran; “Italy also waits your visit, and we hope it will be possible any time soon,” said Renzi.

On the importance of joint efforts to tackle terrorism, Renzi praised Iran’s effective role in fighting terrorism, and said that countries should remain united against common threat of terrorism.
