TEHRAN, Feb. 11 (MNA) – Millions of Iranians have taken to streets across the country to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Each year on the 22nd day of the month of Bahman on the Persian calendar (11th of February), Iranians turn out in ceremonies attended by high-ranking officials to renew their allegiance to the Islamic establishment and Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

An official said on Sunday that celebrations for the Islamic Revolution anniversary will be held in 5200 places across the country in addition to Iranian consulates across the world. Nationwide rallies have started at 9:00 A.M.

Defense achievements showcased

The Defense Ministry has put a number of its latest defense achievements on display on the rally routes in the capital city of Tehran to showcase a part of the Islamic Republic's defensive achievements during the past years.

The armed forces have now stationed the homegrown precision-guided bombs, dubbed Balaban, the Ra'ad' armored personnel carrier, and long-range guided missiles.

Iran has recently made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing military equipment and hardware despite facing sanctions and Western economic pressure.

Flags of Resistance Movement countries united

Tehraners participating in the rallies are holding the united flags of the resistance movement countries and forces to reiterate the unity and integrity of the Muslim nations against the US and Israeli regime’s crimes.

Every year on this day, the nation turns out in droves to highlight support for the Revolution which replaced the US-backed regime with the Islamic Republic.

Demonstrators in many cities braved the cold weather on Tuesday as they descended on main crossroads to renew their allegiance to the country's Islamic principles at a time of rising economic and political pressure.

Top Iranian political figures including President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi joined the ongoing nationwide rallies to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

This year’s mass rallies are especially significant as they coincide with the 40th-day memorial for Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), who was assassinated together with his comrades in a US drone strike in Baghdad in early January. The targeted killing of General Soleimani — the Middle East’s most prominent anti-terror commander — has sent anti-American sentiment soaring not only in Iran but also among regional nations.

Meanwhile, the Iranian demonstrators are taking the occasion to voice their outrage at a contentious plan recently unveiled by the Trump administration with the aim of ending the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The plot — which the Palestinians have unanimously rejected — is meant to help the Israeli regime consolidate its occupation of the Palestinian territories in a blatant violation of international law.

The demonstrators shouted slogans against the anti-Palestine plot, burning US and Israeli flags and hanging Trump’s effigies.

A resolution was read at the end of rallies across the country which pointed to major developments in and outside the country. All the Iranians are in favor of taking harsh revenge on US over the assassination of General Soleimani, it said, adding that the nation is ready to resist and sacrifice in the path of God and that it will continue efforts till ousting US troops from West Asia and eliminating the Israeli regime.

The resolution also highlighted that there will be no new talks with the United States as it has proved to be a terrorist country that cannot be trusted. It also condemned the new US plot for the region, ‘Deal of Century’, saying that it will be thrown to the dustbin of history. Finally, it invited the Iranian people to participate in the upcoming parliamentary election.
