"Our stance regarding the presence of the American military is firm and clear, and we ask the Iraqi government to do its job and put an end to their presence in accordance with parliament's legislation," Mahmoud al-Rabiei, the spokesman of the Iraqi resistance group Asaib Ahl al-Haq, said on Wednesday, according to local Iraqi media, in reaction to a report by an American think tank that had claimed the Iraqi group has eased its stance on the issue.
The Iraqi parliament approved a resolution to expel foreign troops from Iraqi soil after the assassination of anti-terror commanders in early 2020.
He added, "Qais al-Khazali, Secretary General of Asaib, spoke clearly about our stance in a television interview on Al-Iraqia TV channel."
The spokesman was reacting to claim by the American think tank "Washington" that claimed that Asaib Ahl al-Haq had adopted a oragmatist stance on issue of the presence of American troops in their country.
