Moscow warns about US biological weapons near Russia

MOSCOW, Oct. 31 (MNA) – The secretary of the National Security Council (CNS), Nikolai Patrushev, described as a real problem the operation of laboratories for the manufacturing of biological weapons of the United States in territories close to Russia's borders.

Patrushev stated in an NSC meeting on Friday that Washington multiplied by 20 the number of such facilities in the vicinity of the Eurasian state, including those that have operated and operate in territories of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The Council Secretary explained the production of biological arsenals is costly and considered that amount of tens of billions USD.

In mid-2015, experts of the Russian delegation to the Convention of Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) expressed concern in statements to Novosti about the presence of US facility of its kind in Georgia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

According to the Russian news agency, these experts commented that Moscow cannot remain passive when facing the Pentagon buildings almost on the borders of Russia of high security installations that could be used to produce biological weapons.
