Congress on Sohrab Sepehri opens tomorrow

TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) -- The Second International Water’s Footfall Congress honoring Iranian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri is being held tomorrow at the Farabi Amphitheater of the Tehran University Faculty of Art.

The congress is being held on the threshold of the 76th anniversary of Sepehri’s birthday.

 

Sepehri (1928-1980) is regarded as one of Iran’s greatest modern poets.

 

A talented artist and gifted poet, Sepehri came to prominence with the publication of “The Water’s Footfall”. Blending visual images taken from painting with Eastern mysticism, Sepehri wrote poetry in a unique and original style. He died of blood cancer in Tehran in 1980.
