“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the interventionist statements of the President and other American officials about Iran’s internal affairs," the Iranian foreign ministry's statement issued on Friday evening read.
"Such irresponsible stances, which are a continuation of the US’s bullying and illegal approach towards the Iranian nation, are not only a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law regarding respect for the national sovereignty of countries, but also constitute incitement to violence and terrorism against Iranian citizens," it also said.
"Recalling the long history of criminal interventions by different US governments in Iranian affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the claim of sympathy with the great Iranian nation to be hypocritical and intended to deceive public opinion and cover up the numerous crimes committed against Iranians," the ministry also said.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalls the duties and responsibilities of the United Nations Security Council and its Secretary-General in accordance with the Charter to ensure international peace and security against the belligerent unilateralism of the United States, and emphasizes that Iranians will not allow any malicious interference in their dialogue and interaction among themselves to resolve problems," continued the statement.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assesses the intimidating remarks of American officials against Iran as being in line with the Zionist regime's policy of escalating tensions in the region and emphasizes that the Islamic Republic of Iran's response to any aggression will be swift, decisive, and comprehensive. Obviously, the responsibility for the consequences of such a situation, which could further destabilize the entire region, will lie entirely with the American regime," it concluded.
