In a statement posted on X on Friday, the Iranian Embassy said it was “regrettable and condemnable” to hear what it called hypocritical positions from British lawmakers, accusing them of having a tendency to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
The statement followed comments by a number of pro-Israeli members of the UK Parliament, including former Security Minister Tom Tugendhat and former Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, who raised what the embassy described as interventionist claims against Iran under the pretext of human rights concerns.
The Iranian Embassy advised the lawmakers to cease interference in Iran’s domestic affairs, avoid misleading public opinion with false narratives, refrain from repeating what it called failed past approaches, and abandon double standards.
