Saddam sentenced to death

TEHRAN, Nov. 5 (MNA) -- Ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and two of his senior allies were sentenced to hang Sunday as they were found guilty of crimes against humanity.

 

Saddam was sentenced to death at the Iraqi High Tribunal for ordering the deaths of 148 Shiites in the village of Dujail, northern Baghdad.

 

 

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Saddam's half-brother and former head of the Mukhabarat intelligence service, was also sentenced to death by hanging for his role in the killing of 148 Shiite villagers.

 

The former vice president Taha Yassin Ramadan received a life sentence, while three Baath Party officials from Dujail received 15 years each.
