Iran’s Sadra to build 4 ships for Germany

TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (MNA) -– The contract to build four ships for Germany is awarded to Sadra of Iran. Total value of the project is $120m and the first ship will be seaborne in 30 months, board director of Sadra Company Seyyed Mehdi Hosseini stated on Friday.

Referring to the company’s foreign activities, Hosseini said that Sadra has participated in several international calls for tender in India and Qatar, and negotiations for a number of sea projects with Venezuela and a couple of North African countries are underway.

He also considered buyback contracts the most suited ones for Iran’s oil Industry, particularly in upstream sector, adding, “Unlike financing which is only a way to meet the investment required, buyback allows one to choose partners who possess high technology and technical know-how in the field with no delay involved,” he stipulated.

The ships are ordered by north German-based Rickmers Shipping Lines and have a cargo capacity of 25,000 tons each. They would be used for freight transport from Europe to other destinations worldwide.
