Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Masoud Shams-Bakhsh held talks with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology Brian Yuliarto on the sidelines of the 13th BRICS Ministers of Education Meeting in Bhubaneswar, India.
Shams-Bakhsh highlighted the two countries’ longstanding cultural, historical and religious ties as a strong foundation for deeper educational and research cooperation.
Yuliarto expressed Indonesia’s readiness to pursue joint research projects, postgraduate student and faculty exchanges, study opportunities and short-term academic programs. Indonesia’s education minister formally invited Iran’s science minister and a high-level delegation to visit Jakarta.
The two sides discussed scholarships, joint educational courses and research cooperation in climate change, food security, renewable energy and agriculture. They also considered expanding the participation of Iranian universities in the BRICS Network University.
The two sides also agreed to work toward signing cooperation agreements and implementing the proposed initiatives as soon as possible.
