Typography is the art and craft of designing typefaces and arranging type for display, which emerged almost at the same time as the printing industry.
Works of 42 graphic designers, spanning three generations, will be put on display in the exhibit. The event is being sponsored by Switzerland’s Visual Communication Institute and is directed by Michael Renner.
The showcase was originally to be held last January, but it was postponed due to unforeseen difficulties.
The late Morteza Momayyez, who is considered to be the father of Iranian graphic art, Iraj Haqiqi, Qobad Shiva, Mohammad Ehsaii, Farshid Mesqali, Sadeq Barirani, Alireza Mostafazadeh, Bijan Seifuri, Iraj-Mirza Alikhani, Farzad Adibi, Firuz Shafei are among the graphic designers whose work will be on display.
Iranian graphic designer Majid Abbasi is scheduled to give workshops on Iranian typography on May 5 and 6.
A 169-page catalogue to complement the exhibition, with an introduction written by Renner, has been published by Nazar, an Iranian company.
The exhibition will run until May 10.
