Leader advises Arabs to avoid “dangerous traps" of arrogant powers

“Nuclear energy, as an indigenous achievement, is a source of pride for the Iranian nation and the Islamic world,” Ayatollah Khamenei told a group of people from the holy city of Qom who had gathered at his residence for an Eid al-Ghadir celebration.

The Leader reaffirmed the fact that the nation would not renounce its right to nuclear energy. “Undoubtedly, the Iranian nation will not relinquish its right, and officials also have no right to ignore this great achievement,” he said.

Commenting on reports that the United States is trying to establish a united front against Iran with the cooperation of Britain and certain Arab states, the Leader said such a coalition would be cooperation with two “ominous and filthy” governments against a nation which has been a source of dignity for Islam and has made many sacrifices on this path, and therefore “Arab governments should be wary of this dangerous trap.”

“It would be a political mistake if certain Arab and Islamic states think that they can please the Zionist regime by forming a coalition with the U.S. and Britain.”

Even if such a coalition were formed, it would be useless because a more powerful coalition took effect to occupy parts of Iran’s land through the disgraced Saddam Hussein, but finally they “could not do a damn, and their current plots against the Islamic system will also not get anywhere,” he noted.

During the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, some Arab countries gave money to Saddam and certain Western countries provided the deposed regime with material for producing chemical weapons. The United States even provided the Iraqis satellite images showing the positions of Iranian forces on the warfronts.

Vigilance and avoiding schisms

The Leader also stressed the need to remain vigilant and avoid any kind of disunity.

“Today, the greatest duty of Muslims, especially the ulema, scholars, and politicians, is to make efforts to strengthen the unity of Muslims, help promote Islamic vigilance, and avoid schisms in the Islamic world,” the Leader maintained.

On the importance of the al-Ghadir event, in which Prophet Muhammad (S) appointed Ali (AS), the first Imam of the Shias, as his successor, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Such an important event must not be used as a pretext to sow discord between Muslims and weakening Islam.”

The enemy wants to turn the al-Ghadir issue into a vehicle to promote fratricide, war, and bloodshed among Muslims, he added.

“Therefore, the Shias should not make the least move or statement which would help this plot, and the Sunni brothers should also be wary about the enemies’ manipulation of religious sentiments,” the Leader warned.

Facing and conceding failures in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Palestine, the global powers, with the United States at their helm, have been attempting to divide Shias and Sunnis, he noted.
