First Confab on Mosque World Week in Tehran

TEHRAN, August 11 (Mehr News Agency) -- The first Confab commemorating "Mosque World Week" is to be held in Tehran beginning on August 30.

The confab aims to define the status of mosques in society, familiarize the youth with role of the mosques in the world of Islam and develop the activities of the mosques.

The week has been designated as "Mosque World Week", following Iran’s proposal and the approval of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). The move is to underline the day Al-Aqsa Mosque was set ablaze by Israel on August 30.

The confab also aims to call for more cooperation between governmental organizations and mosques in the country, as well as inviting more people in renovation of mosques, nationwide.

Several representatives from Islamic countries and over 700 Friday prayer leaders and Tehran mosques' servants are to participate in the confab.
