According to the IRNA correspondent on the scene, the incident was caused when one of the Boeing 707's tires burst during the landing.
According to eyewitnesses, the plane's tail caught fire due to friction with the runway after the front tire burst.
The 707 then skidded off the runway and into the Kan River.
The missing child fell into the river during the emergency evacuation of the aircraft.
The initial eyewitness reports also state that the emergency facilities of the plane including the air cushion slides for emergency exits malfunctioned and that was why the passengers had to jump out, which led to many broken limbs.
Unconfirmed reports also say that the plane's attendants left the plane before the passengers.
Most of the injured were promptly transferred to hospitals in ambulances.
"The bodies of two adults were found and a search for the missing four-year-old child is continuing," Reza Jafarzadeh, the spokesman for Iran's Civil Aviation Organization, told Reuters.
The IRNA news agency, citing passengers' accounts, said the child had fallen into the river near the runway and drowned during the chaotic evacuation of the aircraft.
Jafarzadeh added that officials had retrieved the aircraft's black box flight recorder, which would help determine the exact cause of the crash. All the injured have been released from hospital, he said in conclusion.
