Extending his condolence and sympathy to Iranian nation and government, Guterres underlined that United Nations strongly and seriously denounces the attacks in Tehran.
“UN is beside Iranian nation in fight against terrorism, which needs a collective and international cooperation,” he said to Iran’s permanent representative to UN.
On Wednesday, Iran’s parliament and mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran were hit in near-simultaneous attacks that have killed 17 people and wounded 52 others. Terrorist group ISIL has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
