A delegation from IMF, headed by Dominique Given, deputy of IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department, visited Iranian officials on Sunday in Tehran.
In a meeting with Iranian deputy economy minister, Given said that because of lack of statistical information, the IMF’s newly-published report about Iran economy were only projections and forecasts. “By receiving new statistics especially in industry and agriculture sectors, we will adjust former forecasts”, he added.
IMF in its new report had published pessimistic rates about Iran economic growth in 2008 and 2009, which experts believe that don’t cope with Iran economic realities. These figures had huge differences with World Bank projections. IMF forecasted Iran GDP growth rate in 2009 almost 0.1 percent and about 1 percent in 2010.
In the meeting, he praised conducting the subsidy reform plan in Iran and said: “We follow Iran’s economic reforms accurately and request transmitting of Iran experience in the subsidies system reforms to other countries which still subsidies have a considerable share in their GDP.”
