Plan to Move Capital Requires Study, Time and Money

TEHRAN, Jan 10 (Mehr News Agency) – A member of the Majlis Development Commission, Vali Azarvash, stated, regarding the movement of the capital, the majority of Tehran’s population will move with the governmental institutions.

In an interview with the Mehr News Agency, Azarvash, discussing the capital movement proposal put forward by the secretary of the Supreme National Security council (SNSC), said the plan needs study concerning several parameters; the field of city construction, the enforcement of architectural rules, and consideration of political and social issues. Azarvash stressed that any proposal in this regard should be discussed so that its details are analyzed and the technical and developmental issues are considered.

 

“In my opinion exclusive expert studies should be performed on related necessary methods and policies before deciding to move the capital,” he said citing previous discussion regarding the proposal. Any movement necessitates foundation, this proposal is not easily accomplished; it requires considerable time and money.

 

In the interim the Majlis has put urban securitization and building code plans at the top of its agenda with the capital movement proposal discussed within the framework of this plan. Azarvash said regarding Tehran, the Majlis has put the reconstruction plan for the worn infrastructure, including seismic upgrading of the city, as the paramount concern. All supervising institutions, municipalities, the Engineering System Authorization, and the Ministry of Housing should supervise building construction in the cities with technical and security consideration made a priority.
