He said that a total of 26 jungle parks and promenades, 11 nature reserves, eight pools, 46 rivers, eight waterfalls, and 130 ancient hills are among the natural sites of the province.
He added that among other attractive natural sites of the region are nine springs, three boiling mud pits, 10 caves, a bay, a peninsula, a sea, eight mountainous villages, as well as 29 peaks and knolls.
He also said that whereas tourism, especially ecotourism, is now regarded as a kind of national wealth, more attention should be paid to the use of this significant treasure.
“Ecotourism is an industry,” Taghinasab said, adding that some useful measures should be taken to attract eco-tourists. It is essential to establish several eco-tourist offices in other provinces in order to acquaint people, tourists in particular, with the attractive natural sites of this region; press, media, posters, and brochures are among other means of information dissemination.
Referring to the Golestan two-day gathering, attended by the country’s outstanding tourist agencies and held on December 3, 2003 by the province’s TTO, Taghinasab said that Golestan is the ecotourist treasure of the country while the gathering aims to introduce the attractive sites of the region and boost tourism industry in the province.
